GyroRemote FAQ

Q: What systems will GyroRemote operate on?
A: GyroRemote will operate on any USB-equipped IBM compatible PC running Windows 98, 2000, ME and XP.

Q: What other operating systems will GyroRemote operate on?
A: GyroRemote will function on Mac and NT4 with limited functionality. For NT4 systems, you will need a third party driver available from www.bsquare.com. For Mac systems, the GyroRemote will operate without additional drivers. Note: 4 programmable buttons are not functional on Mac and NT4 systems.

Q: Where can I download GyroRemote drivers?
A: There are no special drivers required for standard mouse control. GyroRemote is 100% plug and play and uses your standard Windows compatible mouse drivers. GyroTools™ software is required to enable the buttons on the top of the remote.

Q: My cursor moves too fast. . . can I slow it down?
A: GyroRemote uses your standard Windows mouse driver. Any settings that are available to a standard desktop mouse are also available to GyroRemote. Multiple factors will determine how you adjust your mouse to suit your preference including screen resolution, mouse driver version and overall personal preference. While becoming familiar with your GyroRemote and getting a feel for the GyroPoint method of cursor control, Gyration recommends adjusting your mouse driver to the following settings: **Pointer Speed – Average. Some new users prefer this setting to be slightly slower than average. Advanced users will increase the speed so that less wrist movement gives them more screen coverage with the cursor. **Acceleration – Low or Off.

Q: How do I set 3 or more GyroRemotes and/or Keyboards on one computer?
A: The Receiver can be taught to recognize up to eight devices (remotes, keyboards, etc.) on a system, but only two of those devices may be used simultaneously. When setting up a system with a single receiver and three or more devices, the following guidelines must be followed:

**Select two channels that are free of outside interference and install all devices on either of those two channels. When possible, it is recommended that the two chosen channels be separated by at least one unused channel.
**Any of the devices installed on one channel may be used simultaneously with any of the devices on the other channel. Two devices that share a channel may not be used simultaneously. When installing the devices try to determine which devices will be used simultaneously and set them on opposite channels. The following example describes a single-receiver system with two remotes and a keyboard that requires one remote to be used by a presenter for cursor control while another presenter inputs data on the keyboard. Remote #1 is set to channel 3 and the keyboard and remote #2 are set to channel 5. With this configuration, remote #1 and the keyboard can be used simultaneously, but remote #2 and the keyboard cannot.

Q: Can I use the pointer without having to hold the activate button with my finger?
A: The cursor can be placed in active mode by double-clicking the Activate trigger or by pushing the crescent-shaped button on the top of the remote. The cursor will now follow your hand movements. A single click on the Activate trigger will return the cursor to on-demand mode.

Q: How do I configure my right mouse button to go to a previous slide in PowerPoint?
A: In PowerPoint 2000, go to the Tools menu in the main menu bar and select Options. Under the View tab, go to the Slide show section and uncheck the box labeled "Popup menu on right mouse click."

Q: Why do I have to re-synch the GyroRemote on every reboot?
A: The drivers in your device manager did not fully install. Check the Device Manager* for Errors(!) or Unknown devices(?). If any are present, reinstall or remove them. When reinstalling, have your Windows CD on-hand and be sure that you have sufficient rights to install/remove devices. If there are no errors and the unit still requires re-synch on reboot you can reach Gyration's Technical Support team by phone at 1-888-340-0033 or by sending an e-mail to support@gyrationhelp.com. Please be sure to have your product on-hand when calling. *Your device manager is in your Control Panel under System.
