Q: What systems will GyroMouse operate on?
A: The GyroMouse will operate on any IBM compatible running Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 2000 Professional, NT 4, ME and XP. The mouse will also work with Macintosh (with additional USB or ADB adapter). There are no additional drivers to load; it is 100% plug and play. It operates on standard Microsoft, Logitech or compatible mouse drivers.
Q: How long does GyroMouse last on one battery charge?
A: The GyroMouse has an average of 13 hours of continuous use on a full charge. It is important to return the Handset to the Receiver/Charger during extended periods of non-use, such as lunchtime and overnight. A completely dead battery will recharge in about 10 hours, but will reach 80% charge in about 4 hours. The light on the Handset will begin to blink about 45 minutes before the battery is fully drained.
Q: How do I turn off the handset?
A: To turn off the handset, hold down the Channel Select Button and click the Activate Button. Reactivate the unit by clicking any button. Tech Note: When traveling, remove battery from mouse to avoid discharging battery.
Q: Why is the light on the receiver flickering?
A: The flickering is an indication that your mouse and base are communicating.
Q: How does the multi-channel radio work?
A: The new RF technology uses a combination of radio frequencies or channels and addresses. In the U.S., there are 8 possible channels and 16 possible addresses (The number of channels available will depend on the regulations of the country for which your unit has been certified.) Each time the Handset is returned to the Base unit, the two synchronize on a new, randomly selected address. This address allows the receiver to identify the data being sent from the handset. Only data with the correct identifier data will be received. The channels allow the user to find a frequency with no interference in your location. The bottom lines it the maximum number of GyroMouse units that can be operated at once in the same location (within 40 feet of each other) is 8 under ideal conditions.
Q: Can I use more than one GyroMouse in the same room?
A: The multichannel radio technology and the 16 possible addresses makes it possible to use multiple GyroMouse units in the same room. Each handset/receiver combination would need a different channel setting from the other units in operation. This is obtained by clicking the "Channel Select" button on one of the handsets until the unit settles on a channel that works while both units are in use.
Q: What is the range of the radio?
A: The radio lets you move up to 40 feet away from the receiver for the Pro and up to 100 feet away from the Presenter.
Q: Can I use the pointer without having to hold the activate button with my finger?
A: The cursor can be placed in active mode by double-clicking the Activate Button and releasing. The cursor will now follow your hand movements. A single click on the Activate Button will return the cursor to on-demand mode.
Q: How does sleep mode work?
A: The handset will enter a Light Sleep mode between 5 and 30 minutes on non-use, during which time the unit may be reactivated by moving slightly on the desktop, or clicking any button. After 30 minutes, the unit enters a Deep Sleep mode, which is equivalent to Power Off. Reactivate the unit by clicking any button.
Q: My slides are advancing automatically in PowerPoint. How do I fix this?
A: Your base unit could be receiving interference from another RF device. To correct this, simply change the channel your mouse is operating on by pressing the channel select button located on the top of the unit. GyroMouse can operate on eight different frequencies and every time you press the channel select button, it will change to the next channel. Or, you may also set the mouse on the base station to change the security address.
Q: How do I know if the channel has changed on my GyroMouse?
A: The light on your receiver will turn solid for a second then will begin to flicker indicating that the base has found a new channel for the mouse.
Q: How do I configure my right mouse button to go to a previous slide in PowerPoint?
A: In PowerPoint 2000, go to the Tools menu in the main menu bar and select Options. Under the View tab, go to the Slide show section and uncheck the box labeled "Popup menu on right mouse click."
Q: Where can I get repair information for my GyroMouse or other legacy products?
A: Contact Cummings and Associates at 858-503-1227 or rcumming3@aol.com.
