- The assets, brand and employees of Gyration, Inc. were acquired by Movea SA (Grenoble, France) from Thomson on January 1, 2008 to form the new company Movea, Inc., a subsidiary of Movea SA. Created in March 2007, Movea SA is a spin-off from the French research institute CEA-Léti. Movea licenses CEA-Léti’s unique gyroscope motion sensing technology, and develops and commercializes motion-based solutions for the digital life experience. The company has commercial interests ranging from consumer electronics to healthcare markets.
- Movea SA’s product line includes magnetometer technology, algorithms and signal processing for managing multiple sensors in a number of market applications, and MotionPod, a device that detects the body movements to help the elderly with mobility. In addition to this, Movea will soon release a MotionWand for consumer applications (details to be released).
- Founded in 1989, Gyration, located in Saratoga, CA is the industry leading provider of motion-sensing controllers and creator of gyroscope technology for the digital media markets including business communications, home entertainment and mobile computing segments. It is the inventor and patent holder of technology that senses human motion to interface with digital media content.
- Movea, Inc.’s consumer product line will continue to be branded Gyration – Gyration, a Movea Brand.
